Meet The Team

Amie Quaife

Amie

Amie qualified as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2010 with a Master's degree in Chiropractic after 4 years of study at Glamorgan University. Before this time, Amie gained a First Class Honours Degree in Human Biology. It was during her studies for Human Biology that she saw the wonderful benefits of Chiropractic care. Due to studying full-time at University with her head in books and poor posture at the laptop, she suffered with disabling headaches which would prevent her from studying. A friend suggested Amie try Chiropractic, which had not occurred to her beforehand. After her first visit, she not only saw the amazing benefits of Chiropractic care but also decided this was the profession she wanted to be part of!

On graduation, Amie immediately moved to North Wales from her home in the South West of England to help people in Wrexham and surrounding areas. It wasn't long before she met her future husband and her life in Wrexham was signed and sealed.

Since graduation, Amie has developed her skills and experience with continued professional development. She is passionate about adapting chiropractic techniques to benefit a broad range of patients, regardless of build or age. She uses diversified technique including manipulation, activator, blocks and drops. Since graduation, Amie has qualified as a dry needling practitioner to further develop her range of treatments, and most recently has completed a course in massage during pregnancy. She is delighted to be able to offer this service here in Active Health, to enhance her care for her patients.

Amie co-founded Active Health in Coedpoeth with Tom in June 2015 to continue to provide Chiropractic care for the people of Wrexham. Fully registered with the British Chiropractic Association and The General Chiropractic Council, she now works full time at the Active Health clinic. In her spare time Amie enjoys cycling, walking around the local area and visiting family in Somerset and the Midlands.

Claire Sutcliffe

Claire

Previously a successful accounts manager, Claire followed her dream and in 2005 she achieved her life long ambition and started her personal training business… she has since gone from strength to strength. Training as a Sports & Therapeutic Massage Therapist, she attained a top level three diploma in the subject.

One factor that really sets her apart from other massage therapists is her background; she is a British Triathlon Federation Level 3 qualified coach, Level 3 personal trainer, and has been coaching triathlon since 2009 & racing since 2006. Recent notable results include 1st AG in Chirk triathlon 2016, as well as 1st female team in 2016’s Swim-Run Snowdonia! She regularly competes in half-ironman distance and in 2018 made her Ironman debut in Italy.

Having such a solid sporting prowess enables her to truly understand her patients' needs. This, coupled with a natural ability to adapt her treatments as necessary means that she is equally at home treating top athletes as she is with our less mobile octogenarian patients. Along with her approachable outgoing personality, these qualities are largely responsible for the demand for her care; she looks forward to seeing you in Active Health.

Sam Taylor

Sam

Sam joined the Active Health team in early 2018, and as a skillful yet approachable therapist has quickly built a solid patient base. Also a level 3 Sports Massage Therapist, he constantly strives for clinical excellence. He knows only too well the process of recovery having undergone ACL surgery himself; this personal experience helps him relate to his patients' own individual hurdles. In order to give the best possible advice when assessing and treating sports injuries, he is currently working towards his level 4 SMT diploma.

Out of the clinic, Sam is a talented sportsman and enjoys swimming, cycling, tennis and football- in 2010 he helped his local team win the division one title! Always keen to promote a healthy lifestyle and help others reach their potential, he has worked as far away as California coaching football. Traveling is another passion of Sam's, and has taken in destinations all over the USA as well as Australia.

Lynne Wright

Lynne

Lynne joined the Active Health team in 2017, and is the clinic's receptionist. Married with a young son, Lynne is no stranger to the outdoors, and can regularly be found up on the mountains, hiking and camping. She is definitely of a sporting background, being an ex- Welsh international distance runner who at 19 ranked 5th in the UK for the 5000 metres! In 2015 she won the Welsh V45 Cross Country championship. When she is not running or cycling, Lynne continues to walk everywhere as her preferred mode of transport, and when she finally gets to sit down will relax with a good book…

Tom Williams

Tom

Tom co founded Active Health with Amie, and is both the practice manager and Internal Quality Assurance manager for the centre's resuscitation and first-aid training operations. Qualifying as a staff nurse in 1998, he worked in Wrexham’s busy Emergency Department before joining the ambulance service and training as a paramedic. After more than ten years on the road serving the public of the Wrexham area, he became a Resuscitation Officer / Clinical Skills Tutor in the Maelor hospital, teaching medical students and all grades of hospital staff how to provide top quality emergency care. In 2013 he traveled to Ethiopia with the Wales For Africa team from the Maelor, working to improve conditions and care levels in this impoverished country.

Still a registered nurse and operational paramedic, he continues to teach advanced life support at the highest level. Along with his team, Tom now offers bespoke training sessions from either the Active Health premises, or at the client's own location if preferred.

In his spare time he is a member of Wrecsam Tri club and he can often be found racking up the miles on his bike in the North Wales countryside or open water swimming in weedy lakes. With regular sports massage from Claire and chiropractic treatments from Amie to keep him in shape, he completed Ironman Wales in 2018. He is also an accomplished sailor, and in 2011 sailed single-handed around the Atlantic Ocean in a 9 metre boat.
